(execpt Explorers you need to turn 5 by Sept 1st)

Explorers Division

5/6/7 years old

The Explorers Division will begin after Septemebr 1st. This is entry level football the teams will practice four times prior to begining games. You must turn 5 by Sept 1st. There is no winning or lossing a game in this division. No score is kept. Each team gets the ball for 10 plays then switches to the other team having the ball for 10 plays.

Founders Division

8-9 year olds

age is based on how old you are jury 31st

The Founders Division is a beginning level in JDYFL and is a developmental level of football. This division does not have any special teams, no puntign or kicking. The Founders Division allows for children to experience tackle football with the most game situation exposure possible. Each team will be required to play every player 12 plays per game. Founders teams will be using the peewee size football. The Founders Division may occasionally play teams outside of JDYFL as the schedule allows.

Governors Division

10-11 year olds

Age based on July 31st

The Governors Division is open to previous players as well as those who have not played before. This division is developmental and competitive. There will be live punts and kick offs, as well as playoffs that conclude with a Super Bowl. There will not be live rushes for field goals, or extra point plays when a kick is attempted. The Governors Division adheres to the majority of Virginia High School League (VHSL) rules with regards to game play. Play is determined by a matrix, using the number of players and the required number of plays each child must receive. The extra point play is the only play which is not timed and does not count as an official play for play count. The Governors teams will use the junior size football. The Governors Division may occasionally play teams outside of JDYFL as the schedule allows.

Presidents Division

12-13year oldsAge based on July 31st

The Presidents Division is open to previous players, as well as, those who have not played before. No high school students allowed no matter age This is a competitive league. Presidents teams will compete with one another, as well as, with teams from other Middle Schools. Presidents teams will travel to play teams from around the state. The Presidents Division will have playoffs that conclude with a Super Bowl. All aspects of the game are live. The Presidents Division adheres to the majority of Virginia High School League (VHSL) rules with regards to game play with the exception of the extra point. A kick will be worth 2 points and a run is worth 1 point. This is done to promote kicking. The Presidents team will use the youth size football.
